The Christian story tells us that 2000 years ago, God became incarnate, taking on flesh and dwelling among His creation. He was (and is) the long awaited Messiah, the “Promised One” that God’s people had been looking for.
But despite all this, God’s people had a hard time recognizing Him. They had certain expectations about how the Messiah would and should act. Jesus consistently defied those expectations. He kept everyone on their toes, wondering what He would do next.
Jesus does this still. Just when we think He acts according to the script, He does something to defy our expectations.
