City Church has started a reading group in 2019. Each month (or so), we will pick a book to read together and process the book within a community discussion. It’s simple. We will announce the book. You order and read it. We will organize a meet-up and / or podcast towards the end of the month.
February Reading Group Gathering
Sunday, March 3; 10:45 AM - Stony Run Offices
A few things to note:
We are hoping for a variety of genres and perspectives. Some we will agree with. Others, we won’t. It is our hope that we can foster charitable and respectful dissuasion with ideas and others from differing viewpoints.
Even if you don’t get through the book, you are welcome to join in the discussion. Just be warned that we may spoil the ending.
You are welcome to jump in and out of the reading group throughout year. However, be open to surprise. A book might not initially attract you, but you might be better for it.
The group is open to everyone, not jus those within our church community. Feel free to invite anyone you think would have interest.
Keep checking back to this webpage for details on our monthly meet-up.
February’s Book: THE GREAT DIVORCE by CS Lewis
The Great Divorce: CS Lewis
The writer finds himself in Hell boarding a bus bound for heaven. The amazing opportunity is that anyone who wants to stay in heaven, can. This is the starting point for an extraordinary meditation upon good and evil, grace and judgment. Lewis’s revolutionary idea is the discovery that the gates of Hell are locked form the inside.
